Notes on "Castaway"

NK: I have a longstanding obsession with true accounts of shipwrecks, written by the castaways. The lyrics to this song, which I wrote around 2007, are words from a guide to shipwreck survivors written by former castaway Dougal Robertson, the author of “Survive the Savage Sea,” a book I’ve been reading and re-reading ever since I was a child. I originally wrote “Castaway” on guitar, but Lisa rearranged it for piano.
